Covid-19 Safety

We are looking forward to seeing you all running again in this year's Ocean Healthcare Torbay Half Marathon and 10k. However, we are also committed to ensuring that all runners, volunteers, staff, and supporters are safe, and the event is delivered in line with all guidance and in line with all public health advice. We will be following government guidance and implementing all measures required to make the event Covid secure. We will constantly review this and take advice from Sport England.

We will be implementing a number of measures at our 2021 event; these will evolve with time and will be constantly reviewed alongside the government guidance. You will be sent full and updated information on our covid mitigation in the weeks prior to the event.

  • All marshals and staff within the event and around the course will be issued with, and will be mandatory to wear, PPE for the duration of the event.

  • Race packs will continue to be posted out ahead of the event and communications will be sent via email in the lead up.

  • We plan to limit baggage drop facilities and all participants are asked to limit the number of belongings they bring to the event.

  • There will be multiple hand sanitizer stations around the event.

  • There will be clear signage around the event village, please follow all signage and instructions from the marshals before, during and after the race. There may also be one-way systems put in place.

  • The race will start in waves based on your estimated finish time, with the faster runners at the start and slower near the back to avoid any congestion and the need to overtake on course.

  • While on the run route please stay left, if you need to pass another participant please pass on the right and only when you can maintain a safe 1m distance. We ask that runners are respectful of their fellow participants and event staff and do not spit or blow their nose on the course. When you reach the finish please do not stop at the line, there will be signs and staff to help point you in the right direction.

  • We want to make the event environmentally sustainable, we also want to make sure it is safe. We will have self-serve water stations on the route which will be re-stocked by event staff in PPE. There will also be water available at the finish.

  • Face coverings are mandatory at the event site and to be worn at all times prior to the event start, though runners will not be expected to run in a face covering. We kindly ask that you come ready with your own face covering and that it is disposable should there be a need to place it in the bin at the start line. Further details will follow closer to race day.

  • The event will have enhanced medical cover to cater for the most up to date guidance for mass participation events in outdoor spaces. Further details will follow closer to race day.

  • Our spectator policy will be shared closer to race day however sadly we expect that we may need to ask you to limit the number of supporters you bring with you on the day and that they will not be able to wait at the finish line to watch you cross it.

  • Via your run number timing chip, we will know that you are at the event. Now more than ever it is essential that you do not swap numbers or use a number with someone else’s name so that we can efficiently track and trace should we need to.

  • Do not stop within the finish barriers. Please continue past the finish until you pass the medals and are in an open space.

  • We ask that once you have collected your medal and water to leave the event village as soon as possible to avoid groups congregating within the event village.
