MAJOR DAY OF RUNNING BECKONS ON THE ENGLISH RIVIERA THIS AUTUMN AS THE TORBAY MARATHON AND 10K RETURN.

Entries have now opened for the Torbay Half Marathon and 10k running events, which will return to the English Riviera this autumn, on Sunday, 29th September.

The half marathon, first staged in Torbay in 1992 and last held in 2022, will be the feature distance in a busy day of running which is expected to attract thousands of competitors of all ages and abilities to the seaside location.

Taurus Events, the new organisers, who also stage Britain’s Ocean City Running Festival in Plymouth, have set their sights on developing the profile of the half marathon and 10k to a national audience, whilst retaining the local appeal and capturing the positives that Torbay has to offer.

Suzi Cumberland, Managing Director of Taurus, explained, “South Devon is a location that is hugely popular and resonates with so many people from across the nation, and we want to make the event weekend a great reason to return and spend time here.”

She continued, “With so much to offer in terms of attractions, a wide range of accommodation and of course the seaside charm of the English Riviera, there are so many reasons that The Torbay Half and 10k can become a destination of choice event on the running calendar.”

The organisers also plan to introduce a Torbay Athletic Club trophy, to be awarded to the fastest male and female runners from a Torbay postcode, together with a team challenge for businesses from across the region.

The events will be staged on fully closed roads, on a route that hugs the picturesque coastline, and will start and finish on Paignton Green.
