IT’S DESTINATION ENGLISH RIVIERA AS ALMOST 4,000 PEOPLE SET TO TAKE PART IN THE TORBAY HALF MARATHON AND 10K FOR DEVON’S FASTEST GROWING RUNNING EVENT

A record entry of close to 4,000 people will be descending on the spectacular English Riviera for

the Torbay Half Marathon & 10K on Sunday 20 September.

Organised by Taurus Events, Devon’s fastest growing running event will welcome runners of all abilities from across the UK to South Devon in what will be a celebration of human spirit and endeavour.

A new and exciting route showcasing some of Torbay's most iconic landmarks has been introduced this year, featuring Torquay Marina, Princess Gardens and Princess Pier, which will offer participants spectacular views of the bay.

The Half Marathon is scheduled to start at 9:00am on Paignton Green, with thousands of spectators expected to line the seafront, before participants make their way through Torquay and Paignton, before returning to the Green to cross the all important finish line.

In addition to welcoming a record number of entrants, the event has also attracted unprecedented backing from the local business community, with a record number of sponsors  and partners supporting the event. These include Kitson Boyce, Mercure Hotel, JHAV, GWR, D4S H&S Consultancy and Training, Torbay Pharma, VX3, Torbay Leisure Centre, Knights Brown and Chery.

Rowcroft Hospice will once again serve as the event's official charity partner, with hundreds of runners set to be wearing Rowcroft purple shirts to raise vital funds for the much-loved and respected charity.

Road closures will be in place from 7:00am on Sunday 20 September to ensure the safety of participants, volunteers and spectators. Residents and visitors are encouraged to plan their journeys in advance, while organisers encourage local communities to come out and support participants throughout the morning.
