It’s all set to be a sea of colour on the English Riviera this September as staff and supporters from the Torbay and South Devon NHS Charity create a Torbay Blue Wave at the Torbay Half Marathon and 10k events.
NHS employees, their families and supporters, are being encouraged to join the Torbay NHS team and take part in one of the popular distances, to promote mental and physical wellbeing while raising funds to improve and enhance patient care for local people.
Joe Teape, Chief Executive, Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust, speaking on behalf of Torbay and South Devon NHS Charity said, “This is a fantastic initiative! As a keen runner myself I know the benefits that running (or a fast walk) brings. I hope to see many of my colleagues and friends joining us on the start line of this huge community focused event on our doorstep.”
The Torbay Half Marathon and 10k return to the Riviera on Sunday 21 September 2025 with 4,000 people expected to take part across the two events, which start and finish on Paignton Green. The NHS Torbay Blue Wave runners, along with fellow competitors, will be cheered on by thousands of spectators as they take on the picturesque route.
Suzi Cumberland, Managing Director of event organisers Taurus Events, said, “After the success of the NHS Blue Wave in Plymouth, we are proud to be supporting NHS Torbay Blue Wave. Whether a first-time jogger, or an experienced runner, the day has something for everyone, and everyone planning to take part can be guaranteed a warm welcome and a vibrant atmosphere.”
